Get answers to common questions about IPL Treatment.
IPL treats the face, neck, chest, hands, and other areas affected by pigmentation, vascular lesions, and texture concerns. Your clinician will tailor treatment areas and settings during consultation for safe, effective results.
Most clients need three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on the concern and skin response. Your provider will recommend a personalized plan and timeline during the initial assessment.
IPL can be safe for some darker skin types but carries increased risk of hyper- or hypopigmentation. We perform thorough assessments, may do test patches, and adjust settings or recommend alternatives as needed.
During treatment you'll feel warm, snapping sensations; cooling and topical numbing can improve comfort. Post-treatment redness, mild swelling, and temporary darkening of spots are common and usually resolve within days to two weeks.
Results vary by concern and lifestyle; pigment and vascular improvements can last months to years, but aging and sun exposure may cause recurrence. Maintenance sessions and diligent sun protection help prolong outcomes.
Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, and darkening of pigmented spots before sloughing. Most clients resume normal activities immediately; avoid direct sun and strenuous exercise for 48-72 hours.
